“Aggressive protesters”
Governor signs law that could mean tougher stance by law enforcement against pro-lifers outside abortion centers
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed into law a bill extending for another five years the “Reproductive Rights Law Enforcement Act,” which requires the state to gather statistics on crimes against abortion providers – and adds a provision that could result in police taking a more hostile approach against what Planned Parenthood calls “aggressive protesters.”
According to a July 25 press release from the governor’s office, Schwarzenegger signed the bill, SB 1770, last week along with four other pieces of legislation. Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Pacoima was the bill’s author. The measure passed the state Senate 24-13, and the Assembly 45-29, largely along party lines – Democrats in favor, Republicans opposed.
The bill extends from Jan. 1, 2009 to Jan. 1, 2014 the “sunset provision” of the existing law. In addition, it adds a requirement that law enforcement personnel receive additional training on how to recognize crimes against abortion clinics and abortion providers, with the goal of less mediation and more arrests.
Reports from the California Department of Justice mandated by the existing law suggest the extension may not be necessary. According to the Department of Justice, just 31 crimes against abortion providers were reported between 2003 and 2006.
In 2003, according to the Department of Justice, there were 10 reports of crimes against abortion providers; eight reports in 2004, nine reports in 2005 and just four reports in 2006. Of the four reports in 2006, three were assaults occurring in Butte, San Joaquin, and Riverside counties, and one was for vandalism in Los Angeles County.
But Planned Parenthood, the state’s largest abortion provider, complained to the legislature that the Department of Justice’s statistics are misleading because police officers often do not report violations of the state’s Freedom of Access to Clinics Act. “Statewide, Planned Parenthood health centers, their clients, practitioners, and volunteers face arson attempts, blockades, repeated vandalism, aggressive protesters, intimidation, threats and more, all in direct violation of the California FACE Act,” said a legislative analyst’s evaluation of the bill.
According to Planned Parenthood and its allies, law enforcement has systematically under-reported crimes against abortion providers, often preferring to make peace between pro-lifers and abortion providers during confrontations than to make arrests. According to the legislative analyst, “A survey by the California Senate Office of Research showed that more than half (50.9%) of participating clinics and medical offices experienced anti-reproductive rights crimes between 1995 and 2000. Forty-eight percent of survey participants who reported the crimes to law enforcement were dissatisfied with the response. The report indicates, ‘complaints about responses included officers who were unfamiliar with the law, officers who tried to mediate… rather than mak[e] arrests, and law enforcement agencies accused of refusing to enforce laws other than for major cases.’”
Pro-lifers who conduct vigils outside abortion centers, however, say it is they who are the victims of mistreatment. For example, in October 2007, the Rev. Walter B. Hoye II, executive elder of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church of Berkeley, who for the last two years has regularly engaged in pro-life sidewalk counseling at the Family Planning Specialists abortion clinic in Oakland, told California Catholic Daily that he and other pro-lifers are frequently harassed, bullied and physically attacked by “escorts” hired by the abortion clinic.
“We are supposed to share the sidewalks, but I myself have been pushed and shoved,” Hoye said. “If they are on the left, I go to the right. If they want to walk ahead of me, I let them.”
Hoye said the escorts are so aggressive that some pro-lifers fear for their safety. “I have witnessed them stalking,” he said. “They will follow you to your car and write down your license plate number. One lady that I work with had to take refuge in a coffee shop because they kept following her, trying to find her car. She was afraid to go back to her car. They jumped in their car and followed her to her car, then blocked her, preventing her from pulling out.”
Abortion clinic escorts have subjected elderly women who join Hoye to the same aggressive behavior. “I saw them push an 89-year-old lady! They also pushed an 80-year-old woman I work with,” he said. “The 89-year-old lady stands on the edge of the curb on the sidewalk and says softly, ‘Abortion stops a beating heart.’ That’s all she does. And do you know what they do? They stand on both sides of her, shouting ‘La, la, la, la, la!’ as loud as they can.”

What about the crimes against humanity that are going on every day in abortion clinics across California and America with the systematic elimination of close to 1,000,000 unborn baby children in their mother's wombs in the U.S. alone. Where is the Government Bill to protect the unborn who are the most innocent and defenceless vicitims of an abortion? Once again good is seen as evil and evil is seen as bad in California. The Governor should terminate abortion of unborn baby children in their mother's wombs in California not terminate the rights of pro-lifers to freely express their democratic right given to them by the Constitution of the United States of America in 1776 to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Who is protecting the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of those hundreds of thousands of unborn baby children beeing terminated through abortion across California and America. With all due respect to that wonderful 89-year-old lady about the those singing and shouting 'La la, la, la, those are the voices of those that know not what they do and what they mock. On the Cross the last words of Jesus to those crucifying him were "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." In California today they truly know not what they do any longer. Keep your pro-life support going no matter how difficult the state and its leader make it for all you pro-lifers. Jesus the one who died for all our sins on that cross even though he was innocent and committed no crime and was God himself will remember all of you that protected these precious little unborn baby children from death. On that day Jesus will say with a wonderful smile and heart when you come into his eternal kingdom that, I know you because you helped me when I was in my mother's womb. I never forgot that act of kindness and love of neighbour and public witness on behalf of that little unborn defenceless and innocent baby neighbour shown by you. God bless all of you.

The evil of abortion continues to creat such evil behavior. God bless the unborn children and may our Lord help us. Like I have said before, I appreciate everyone who is doing what they can to help end abortion.

A few years ago, we would go to the local abortion mill once a month to pray a rosary. One of the "green goons" as we called them would sit down on a step across from Father and spread her legs. She had shorts on so nothing was left to the imagination. She was old enough to know better. It was sick.
One time we were across the street kneeling and praying and the owner of the gas station picked that moment to cut his grass - the little strip between the sidewalk and the street. He pointed the shoot towards us. I had two of my children with me. Stones, etc. were shooting out at us.
It's plain evil and these people are are allowed to get away with it - for now. There is a Judgement Day coming.......

Well, we don't have to worry; I'm sure our California Catholic bishops will raise their voices loudly in defense of their flock's pro-life activists and will lobby strongly in Sacramento and get this evil, tyrannical, despotic law overturned. (This is sarcasm on my part, of course.)
By signing this evil bill, Schwarzenegger objectively is persecuting his fellow Catholics. Anyone who persecutes his fellow Catholics should be EXCOMMUNICATED. I'm sure our bishops will do this right away. (This is more sarcasm on my part.)
If the bishops all these years had done their part to end abortions, pro-life activists would not have to be out in front of the abortion mills and be exposed to persecution.
We can prevent young people from fornicating and then going to the abortion mills -- just stand on public sidewalks outside high schools and colleges and give students pro-life literature, as Marian Banducci has done for years.

In California are a lot of catholics. Why don't they support the conservative candidates?
Why the catholics leaders from California are supporting the democrat/liberal politicians?
These politicians are the one that are passing these laws.

Father M.P., thank you for your counsel about the need to pray and fast in advance of persecution. The late Rev. Richard Wurmbrand, author of the book "Tortured for Christ" about Romanian Communists' persecution of Christians (including himself and his holy wife Sabina) wrote another book about how to prepare an underground church before the full force of persecution hits; in it, he said Christians have to prepare in advance, gain strength in advance through prayer, and it's too late to expect immediate strength once the persecution has arrived.

Senator Padilla is Catholic. When we spoke to his staff person, who is also Catholic, about the need to Eliminate Abortion Funding from our California state budget, even showing her the fetal models and describing the harm abortion causes women, this same staff person blithely responded, "...well, not all Catholics are anti-abortion". Where was our California Catholic Conference on SB 1770? Silent! Did our Bishops speak up about the importance of defending LIFE, especially to our Catholic legislators? Sadly, no. The silence of our Catholic Church leadership is complicit to the killing. Recently one Holy and faithful Priest who has joined as at the abortion clinic sidewalk and prayer was dismissed from our Diocese, rather than thanked for his courageous leadership! In contrast, one of our well-known State Senators, who is 100% supportive of abortion, serves as a Lector of God's Holy Word at his local parish, welcomed to do so by his Priest! Recently, a large well-known Catholic Healthcare provider included Planned Parenthood on their discharge referral papers, encouraging patients to seek medical services at our nation's #1 abortion provider! Please join us in prayer and fasting across our nation this fall for the "40 Days for Life" www.40daysforlife.com and here in California, please join the effort to Eliminate Abortion Funding www.california4life.org whereby we are demanding that the $33 million of our state tax dollars currently providing 95,000 "free" abortions be used to truly help the needy citizens of our state, rather than hurt women for a life-time! Awake from our slumber, California Catholics!

"Aggressive Protestors"
Yes, I stand out in front of businesses who make their living by killing unborn children.
Yes, I pray my rosary. Yes, I offer assistance to confused and troubled men and women alike at these facilities.
And I say in the words of scripture:
"We belong to God, and anyone who has knowlege of God gives us a hearing,
while anyone who is not of God refuses to hear us. Thus do we distinguish the spirit of truth from the spirit of deception." 1John 4.6
We are not fighting a battle against flesh and blood but against principalities, and powers, and spirits of evil deception. And yes, you better believe that I aggressively engage in spiritual warfare on a daily basis. However, the battle belongs to the Lord. Peace on earth to men of goodwill.

The word has been amply passed into the public domain that abortion carries an automatic excommunication ... there is no way that politicians do not know of this. Recall the conversation in the Garden of Eden? Did the devil need instruction as to the will of God?

We need to get smarter than the enemy. Everyone has a cell phone. Whip that one out, and push the picture taking button, and DOCUMENT all the abuse that goes on. We do that whenever we can here in San Diego. They know we will not hesitate to take pictures, and they back off. If the police are called, they know what is what, and understand that someone got riled and wanted to harass someone. Work in pairs, and instead of getting upset, get even and take their picture doing all the stuff they do. There is nothing like it to calm the nerves and arm yourself. Pray the St. Michael prayer while you are doing this, it makes for a nice clear picture.

Vita: we had video in Sacramento of their hi-jinx behavior and we struggled for the right to defend ourselves from lying, perjury as abortion clinic personnel took oaths and lied up a storm of accusatory comments. Then, we were allowed to introduce the video and their case collapsed.
Thus, they fight to eliminate our right to take photos, take video which we need for self-defense. The opposition claims we are using it to expose women and their choices. But the real concern is that they, themselves, will be exposed for the lying spirits that have hold of them.
The truth is that unless and until all opposition to child murder is eliminated in this land, these unhappy folks will keep passing laws to restrict our right to speak the truth in love.
And...Debbie in LV, be not afraid. The harvest is great and we don't serve the Mayor, he serves us.

The "Catholic" governor will no doubt go to Mass this Sunday at his parish in Santa Monica, and his pastor will no doubt desecrate the Blessed Sacrament - again - by putting it into Schwarzenegger's bloody outstretched hands. When questioned about this the pastor will no doubt intone some nonsense about judgmentalism being a sin, and the Austrian's official actions which support prenatal murder will once again be affirmed. Meanwhile, God-fearing members of the Knights of Columbus who try to have pro-death mayors, senators and other trophy members censured or thrown out will themselves be marginalized, censured or thrown out. During all of this, the Cardinal's appointment secretary will be arranging still another gala event at which Mahony will lavish still more honors on pro-death elected officials. How much longer, Oh Lord?

You people are just amazing. If you could only stand back and hear the vile coming from your mouths maybe you would see the errors of your ways. Again I say if you want to put a stop to abortion try practicing what you preach. How many unwanted foster children have you taken into your home? Until you have done so and devoted 24/7 to a child who has been abused and abandoned you can rant and rave in your self righteous ways, but what you say has absoluted no credibility. Please don't call yourselves christian because nothing in your rhetoric portrays Christ. Until you have been pregnant and your father is the father or you have been raped by your friendly neighborhood priest and are now carrying his child do not insult our intelligence by saying you know what you would do. And you men who think you have the right to express your opinion. I'm sure you would be out the door in 2 seconds if your girlfriend told you she was pregnant. All of you either "put up" or "shut up". Please write again when you have some knowledge of what you are speaking about.

Sorry, Kay, but your tired, old anti-life mantra is still as meaningless as it was when some piece of human debris made it up. Who are you to question those defending life? Who authorized you to determine who is righteous and who isn't? Who set you up as an authority on foster children?
What do you know about how many fathers impregnate their daughters? (Hint: an infinitesmally small number, too few to even make a statistic.) Your uninformed statements do not serve you well. They only make you appear ignorant and uneducated. Come back when you have something factual and productive to say. In the meantime, know that God loves you, but He does not love the killing of innocent life.
|

Tom P. I did not make one anti-life statement. Maybe if you read my statement you would have seen that. I am 100% opposed to abortion. I have taken in unwanted children and loved and nurtured them. Have you? Who authorized you to decide who is righteous and who isn't? Again, I have worked in mental health for many years and contrary to your ignorance the father also being the grandfather is far from infinitesimal. Best to keep your mouth shut and appear ingnorant than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. On this subject I do know what I am talking about. It comes from years of experience. Where does your expertise come from?

I agree with Tom P, Kay that is some weak stuff. You excuse poor choices in personal behavior with snuffing out a human life. You are pathetic. Long before the commandments when Cain killed Able he knew it was wrong when God confronted him. You make up excuses and take no responsibility. Rapes account for less than four percent of unwanted pregnancies and even that is debatable. Take that tired stuff home and realize people would rather take care of their pets better than their children!!

Kay, how do you know what any of these pro-life people have done or gone through. I know many pro-life people who have adopted special children, given time and money for crisis pregnance centers, given to home for children, worked teaching children, including those with Downs Syndrome, etd. Many of those who fight on the pro-life side have gone through the fire. It seems to me that it is you who are making self-righteous judgements here.

Posted Tuesday, July 29, 2008 9:40 PM By Kay
RooForLife what do your statistics prove? Did you manage to get the same statistics in regards to the violent crimes committed by "good christians". Again I am not in favor of abortion but I am even less in favor of the way society treats these children after they are here. The answer does not lie in heckling women who have made this choice. The answer is to put your money where your mouth is and help these women and the children who suffer from addiction, fetal alcohol, abuse. Again, when you people open up your homes to these children and allow shelters in your neighborhoods then you have a right to express your opinion. Maybe then you will receive the grace to become truly Christian. Until then please don't call yourselves Catholic. You degrade the rest of us. Your philosophy is much more aligned with Bin Laden who believes his way is the only way and everyone else is headed for hell. Miguel, please do some research. In your infinite righteousness you have twisted everything I said. You might want to look inward. How many of you have pets? How many of you have taken in unwanted children?

AnneT I am aware of many good pro lifers and Catholics who have stood up and helped with these children and God bless them as I'm sure She has. I'm speaking of the people on this website who have gone beyond the bounds of being judgmental. I have had many pets through the years that I have also loved and nurtured and to all those people who take in unwanted pets God bless you too. I don't know your history. If you were 14, pregnant and terrified but chose to have and raise your child than good for you. I have never been in that position myself and don't proclaim to be so righteous as to say I know what I would do in that situation. I am assuming most of you, if not all, have also never been in that situation so don't insult my intelligence by saying you know what you would do. Since you are so passionate about your feelings for these poor children how many have you taken in (any of you)? There are a lot of pro choice people out there who have also been foster parents or adopted special needs children. The concept isn't really that hard to understand. Put up or shut up.

Kay: There is NOOOOO reason whatsoever to abort a baby no matter what the circumstance. It's a soul no matter how it was conceived. And secondly, God is NOT a woman. Jesus was NOT a woman. Kay, the Church teachings, which are those handed down by Jesus Christ Himself, decide who is righteous and who isn't. It is never right to have an abortion, and it is never right to "shut up" about the murder of millions of innocent children. There are many ways to "put up" as well. The Church tells us to reprove, entreat, rebuke, and teach all doctrine in patience. Would you consider that an insult to your intelligence?

Kay, I am sorry that I got upset, but it seemed to me that you were accusing the wrong people. I myself have been a mother since I was nineteen and have never been on welfare. I have taken care of and helped teach thousands, and I do mean thousands of children, which often included those with special needs and grandchildren. Some of my salary went into materials for those children with whom I worked and, after my own children got through college, at least ten percent of my salary went into pro-life and other good causes. I and other pro-life people have had to take care of elderly parents also, before we became senior citizens ourselves. One of my senior pro-life friends is helping to take care of her 93-year old mother. I do not say this to brag, but just so you and others will understand. I know we all get battle weary at times, but please blame the proper people--those who put their money into anti-life causes instead of pro-life causes, and those who continually misbehave.

AnneT Thank you for your words. You seem to be the only one who understands what I am trying to say. Again, I am 100% opposed to abortion. For you people who don't seem to understand 100% it means totally for any reason. You Anne have performed many acts of charity in teaching children (probably for a third of the pay than you deserve) and God bless you for it.RR you seem to be a bit confused. God is not a boy's name. God is neither male nor female. So...to use the pronoun she is no more rediculous than to use the pronoun he. Just because Jesus was male does not make God male anymore than just because I am female it must be true that my son is also female. God is a spirit and has no gender. JSL your logic makes no sense whatsoever, but if it makes you feel better to turn these children away once their here than you go right ahead. You have just proven my point. Once the problem is at your doorstep you want no part of it. You may want to take on a second job, move into a larger home and take in some of these women and children. That way you feel what so many of these women feel. Work 2 jobs a day, pick your child up from daycare, feed, bathe him and stay up all night with him as screams because he is teething. Then... get dressed and go back to work at your 2 jobs. Fr. M.P. instead of damning the darkness you might try lighting a candle. Try giving these women some glimmer of hope and support. When you are finished brow beating these women into doing what you want do you also offer job training, housing, education, medical care etc. so they can take care of their children?

Kay, Kay, Kay, : You are the one that is quite a bit confused. God is a Trinity. God is masculine. God is a Trinity which consists of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Therefore masculine. It is not god the mother, god the daughter, and whatever you want to fill in as holy ghost. Obviously you have a false god and not a Trinitarian God. Christ was conceived through the power of the Holy Ghost(Third person of the Trinity) through Mother Mary. A woman can't conceive through another woman. So Kay, yes, God is masculine and also spiritual. You better change your thinking because some day you will be in front of HIM being judged as will I.

Kay, God is Father. Get used to it. My logic is based on Church doctrine ... If you do not understand it, then study basic Church doctrine. Your present sense of logic is errant, and based on make believe. And because you are basing your sense of religion on such stuff, you cannot see that people such as Fr. M.P. are themselves lights in the darkness, and busy revealing what has to be done for Christ. Open your eyes and see.

Kay, are you a feminist or into new age heresies? "God is not a boy's name. God is neither male nor female." God reveals Himself as Father. Jesus Christ was male, right? God the Holy Ghost is married to Our Lady, which is how Jesus was incarnated. God doesn't fornicate, nor is He homosexual. God revealed Himself that way - which is an infallible dogma. Do you deny it? And is your definition of glimmer of hope that I would "shut up" and not tell them to avoid an abortion? That is damning?

Kay, although God has no gender but is pure spirit, I think of God as my Father as Jesus Christ did. Was my grandfather who helped raise me the first fourteen years of my life perfect? No. Was my birth father whom my mother divorced when I was about two perfect? No. Was my stepfather who helped raise me for about four years perfect? No. but they were basically good men, and one gave me life and the others helped support me. I owe them thanks for that, but only God the Father is the Perfect Father.

Fr. M.P. sooooo what you are stating is that Mary was a bigamist. She married the Holy Spirit and then married St. Joseph. Not only was she married to the Holy Spirit but they ingaged in sexual intercourse and she became pregnant with Jesus. I'm sorry, I must have been absent the day they taught the doctrine that the Holy Spirit was anatomically capable of intercourse. A spirit does not possess genitals, testerone or estrogen, therefore a spirit cannot be male or female. I understand the doctrine of conceived by the Holy Spirit, but please don't try to tell me that their was a sexual act precluding this. Your diatribe almost makes me forget the question you so skillfully avoided. Do you give these women a glimmer of hope. Do you offer help in education, job hunting, housing, medical care, child care etc. to these women? If you don't do any of these things you really do need to shut up. I have no problem with people envisioning God as a father or God as a mother. M.P. and JLS yes I am a feminist and proud of it. You two are mysogenists and are obviously proud of that.

I hope all you pro-lifers who voted for the Terminator (a name with new meaning) are paying attention. Arnold was supposed to be better than Bustamante.... Thus far, a comparison of the two is like finding the least offensive turd in a cesspool.

Kay, you're simply defining the world as you see fit. Your rant against the Holy Spirit is a low key version of the one tossed at me back on the Sunset Strip in 1974, when I was a member of the Jesus Freaks and street preaching ... that one then was one lallapahlooza of a humdinger of a blasphemic linguistic structure ... done far more sharply, powerfully, and intelligently than yours. But keep trying to improve ... maybe someday you'll succeed in getting God's goat.

Kay, ah yes, the heretical 'god as mother' claptrap. You certainly aren't Catholic with such a belief. It's true that God the Holy Ghost, Who is spiritual only, does not have genitals. Don't you remember the rest of the Bible? A Virgin shall give birth? Our Lady is the only woman is both a Virgin and Mother at the same time. God's Spirit is not limited to genitals. Don't limit God by a puny human brain and its limited capabilities. God's Mother, and our Mother too, is Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary. Yes, the Church offers help to women who want to have an abortion. Kay, do you offer anything to help avoid the problem of abortion, to help address the root cause? How about chastity education, and avoidance of the sin of fornication? How about cleaning up the radio and TV shows to avoid the promotion of unbridled sex, and the immorality in the culture? Do you address the real problem or only treat the symptoms afterwards? Do you call me a "mysogenist" (check your dictionary) because I don't agree with you? That would be consistent with the process used by homosexuals who say that anyone who disagrees with them is full of hate. So what else is new?

Kay:
You are not a feminist. Susan B Anthony was a feminist. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was a feminist. My wife and daughter is a feminist. You are a man-hater. There's a big difference.

Kay, I have a suggestion. If you think we women have it so bad, and you do not have cable, go to a friend's house and watch the history channel about the jobs the loggers due--the men who cut the wood for our houses, etc. It is a very tough job, and I don't know any women who would want to do it, or who even have the upper body strength to do it. Many men have crushed fingers, hands and other parts of the body or lost them altogether, including their lives, and this was not always because of uncaring employers or poor equipment, but just part of the job and human error. My grandfather was a logger when he was younger, and back then they even had to ride the logs, but luckily he got out before he lost any body parts, but some men have to do it all their lives. One man before he cuts down a tree cries out, "Jesus I trust in you. Jesus I trust in you. Jesus I trust in you."

Catch them on tape! www.prochoiceviolence.com Human Life International has documented over 8,000 acts of violence and illegal activities. The site has a video of some of it.
We have a video camera on a tri-pod filming our protests.
