A constitutional offense
Court orders removal of veterans’ memorial cross
Last week's decision by the 9th Circuit Court to remove a solitary Roman cross from a World War I veterans memorial in California's Mojave Desert has drawn an angry response from the American Legion, a major association of U.S. veterans.
"Today's lawyers and judges are outlawing the values and religious symbols that the Founding Fathers revered and proclaimed as the very foundation of the American republic," Conatser, head of the 2.7 million-member American Legion, said in a recent press release. "Today it's a memorial. Tomorrow, these same judges can order the removal of crosses on veterans gravestones, the dismissal of military chaplains and the closure of base chapels."
The presence of a cross on public land as part of a veterans’ memorial has been disputed for a number of years by the ACLU. In 2004, an Act of Congress authorized transferring one acre of land, upon which the cross sits, to private ownership, in exchange for five acres of land elsewhere which would be given to the federal government, thereby effectively removing the cross from federal jurisdiction.
But almost 2 ½ years ago, a federal judge in Riverside forbade the exchange of federal lands for private lands in order to maintain the cross. Although the cross has been the center of the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial for three-quarters of a century, the judge ordered the executive branch to cancel the land exchange, retain the land and demolish the cross.
While this ruling was under appeal by the American Legion, the National Park Service covered the Mojave cross with a plywood box, so as to remove the “Constitutional offense.”
On September 6 the Ninth Federal Circuit Court of Appeals again ruled in favor of the ACLU and ordered the cross destroyed.
Conatser expressed indignation at a provision in the current law which allows the ACLU and other groups to collect millions of dollars in attorney's fees from the taxpayers, who, by and large, support the memorials.
"This is one more prime example of wrong-headed political correctness,” said American Legion National Commander Marty Conatser, “and one more critical reason why the current Congress must pass the Public Expression of Religion Act (PERA)."
The American Legion contends that PERA is needed to amend federal law to prevent the use of the legal system “in a manner that extorts money from state and local governments.”
"Passage of PERA would prevent the ACLU from mugging America's taxpayers in this manner," Conatser said. It's time for Congress to make this public law, before other veterans' memorials are literally desecrated at the whim of judges."
The American Legion was founded in 1919 to support veterans’ affairs and patriotic youth programs. The Legion's wartime veterans have more than 14,000 posts across the nation.

OUTRAGEOUS! Next comes all the crosses at our National cemeteries. It's time, people. Stop the outrageous behavior of the minorities in this great Country. Abolish the ACLU, and instill vigilantism in our tactical toolbox. Revolt against the revolting.

Why don't we see this issue in political candidate's platforms, or a ballot proposition?

It's time we become the revolutionaries and fight for our beliefs. We've been taken advantage of because we are busy running businesses and raising children. We've got to make the time to fight. We've got to support organizations like the Thomas More Law Center. Action is required. If everyone sacrifices a little, we'll make significant progress. Those that have more flexibility of time hopefully are able to use that flexibility for the cause. Time to stop talking and start doing.
If you want to know where we're headed, go to the San Fran Bay Area and live there for a few years. We did, not ralizing just how much we would be exposed to and learn. The political activism is amazing. Some of these folks have nothing better to do since they don't have families, businesses, etc. And they are paid to get their hair dyed purple, fly from San Fran and demonstrate in Washington at the inauguration, for example.
Get involved, take action, recruit others. Time to get to work.

Now let me see. That cross had no Corpus. Using the analogy that anything that look like a cross will have to be removed. I guess they will have to take down all the power poles and telephone pole in the country. Go figure.

The ACLU is a hate organization. It has always taken legal action against anything that is decent and traditional in the U.S. Their lawyers have brought lawsuits to prevent the Boyscouts from using public land and from receiving money from the United Crusade because the Boyscouts and their leaders are required to profess a belief in God. They have defended in court and supported NAMBLA, (the Man Boy Love Association) which wants the legal right to have sex with young boys. They fought for years in court to remove the cross from Mt. Helix. They fought to have prayer removed from public schools. They hate God and want all traces of the Christian religion removed from all public places. When they win a case in court, they receive millions of dollars in the settlement, as lawyers' fees. The ACLU is a hate group, the same as the Nazis. Don't let them win. Incidentally, Ramona Ripston, one time head of the ACLU is married to one of the judges on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. What a coincidence.

Many judges are freemasons, and work against Christianity in any way they can. They want their 'light-bearer' who is lucifer (read Manly Hall and Albert Pike - 33rd degree masons).

Most Americans are not aware of the war waged against anything Christian in America by groups such as ACLU. These organizations coo like doves but are ravenous wolves and our founding fathers laws are their prey with the end result to be the total destruction of America!

I know...let's erect an Islamic crescent in place of the cross and see what happens. Will the ACLU howl? Will any federal judge dare to rule to have it removed? Of course not and ask yourselves why. RJManzuk and John O are right. It's time for all Christians--Catholic and otherwise--to revolt against the anti-Christian tyranny of the ACLU and the federal judges who side with them and take back our Christian nation. Remember the vision of Constantine: In hoc signo crucis vinces (In this sign you shall conquer.)

How do you go about ending the ACLU, and the evil judges?
|
Posted Wednesday, September 12, 2007 7:36 PM By Marilyn
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! That cross has been there since WW2 & now they want it removed? Does that mean that any depiction of the Islamic religion can be ordered removed also? Don't these idiots have anything else to do with their time? I agree with Irish Trad we need to start by getting rid of the ACLU. They are nothing but trouble. No if it were an Islamic crescent nothing would be done because that's what they want. It's past time for Christians to wake up & be counted. Pretty soon there won't be anyone to stand up for any rights because the radicals will have had them all done away with. Is that what we want? Is that what our founding fathers wanted for us? I think not.
America needs to get down on her knees & pray for God to save us, because he's the only one who can.

After reading this I can't help but feel that God's anger will be visited upon us. The Wrath of God is somthing we should all fear for it will effect all of us. Let us pray that God's anger will be satisfied by our prayers. Also, that God will visit the ACLU and that they will change like Saul changed to Paul after his meeting with Jesus on the road.

Lest we forget the goal of the ACLU, "I am for Socialism, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the state itself...Communism is the goal." Roger Baldwin, founder, American Civil Liberties Union. The question is why we allow it?

In response to Mr.Sillasen's very pertinent question, we can start by speaking out, by protesting loudly to our elected representives and to the media. We can also do what John O suggested and support the work of the Thomas More Law Center. Furthermore, we can do as Marilyn suggests and get down on our knees and pray.

After more than 2000 years the Cross is still a point of major contention and contriversy. And of course just like 2000 years ago a desert is involved once again. The ACLU is stuck in a time warp that predates the stone age. Who's going to protect Americans from the ALCU and the judges that our trying to outlaw what's Sacred and a gift from God for the salvation of all mankind? Americans need liberty and freedom from the intolerance and short sightedness of the ACLU. Hopefully Marilyn's prayers will be answered very soon. God is in total control Marilyn. God Bless America.

Begin holding rallies around a designated Liberty Tree in your community. It will educate people, draw attention and scare your elected officials. Our founding fathers petitioned, then pamphleteered, then rallied and then revolted. We haven't even gotten to the pamphleteering and rallying stage yet! If you need any help, contact me. John S. and everyone wanting to get rid of the ACLU, there are a few ways. (1) Support law groups like Thomas More, Liberty Counsel and the Alliance Defense Fund fighting them in court. (2) Join the Stop the ACLU Coalition at www.stoptheaclu.org They work to raise massive public awareness of the ACLU's agenda by boycotting their corporate supporters, prying away individual donors, holding protests and pickets outside of ACLU offices, teaching individuals and churches what the true nature of the ACLU is and turning public opinion that the ACLU is not a true civil liberties group but an organization out to destroy the moral infrastructure of America and undermine our national security and sovereignty. Raising public awareness is what they do and it needs everyone's support. Only when massive numbers of Americans are fed up with the ACLU and want to do their part to stop it will America be truly safe and free from tyranny such as exhibited by the 9th Circus Court.

If you think that the ACLU is unfairly targeting Chistians in this country than you are correct. This is the same ACLU that states that there is nothing wrong with the University of Michigan using PUBLIC FUNDS to build footbaths for MUSLIMS on its campus. Hmmmm. Why does the ACLU single out Christians and not other religions? This is a serious question that people should ponder. What sort of an agenda does the ACLU have?
By the way, perhaps someday the ACLU will be out to ban the letters "t" and "x" since they appear to resemble the cross.

Maybe we need to organize an anti-ACLU lobbying group or hire lobbyists whose sole purpose would be to abolish the ACLU's ability to get tax payer's money. We've got to get control of our country back before it is too late. If you wonder why there has been a tremendous onslaught against Christians, you may also want to be aware that at the G-8 summit meeting in Georgia (summer 2004?) a couple of years ago, the leaders of the "free" world decided that Jesus was not Diety but rather was equivalent to Mohammad. I heard this from Mr. Kerby Anderson's interview on the "Point of View" radio show with Joan Veon, who attends these summit meetings worldwide and has for many years.

Simone is correct; read about the origin of the ACLU. Supreme Court Justice Ginsberg was once their chief counsel! That tells you where many of the courts stand. The water is boiling and the frogs didn't notice!

I don't think they are "footbaths". I have an eyewitness account, and if these things are for the same purpose, then they are not footbaths. The occasional reports of airplane passengers of muslims going to the restroom on the plane and then hearing a lot of commotion ... Iikely the same ritual. I didn't know it was secret, but evidently it is. It is a purification ritual, with the pouring of water from special vessels. My witness saw them do this back in the fifties in a middle eastern ariport, when, I guess, it was not a secret ritual.

My late Mentor, Congressman Clyde Doyle, told me that he, as the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Un-American Activities, had ample evidence that the ACLU was a foreign controlled organization. Guess what country then was the controller. If you guessed the USSR, go to the head of the class!

God controls everything? What about free will? Complacency will get a person nowhere; we are not puppets, and therefore if we see something wrong, it is our responsibility to correct it.

John L., of course God gave mankind free will. There is no disputing that fact and eternal truth. The Garden of Eden is the most famous example of God allowing mankind free will expressed by Adam and Eve. But the same God that created mankind and the entire universe and is allowing humanity both good and bad free will, is also in total control even though it doesn't seem that way to many in the world at times. While the 9th Circuit Court ruling does not surprise Elizabeth as she states in her posting on California Catholic Daily, and many other Americans, this very same God of love and mercy will in fact intervene in mankind's history at the appointed hour and day that only God knows. Until then we are to as St. Paul says: "Fight the good fight" or as you say, "correct it." No matter how bleak and difficult things will get to mankind in the coming months and years we already have full assurance and eternal hope that Jesus Christ who is God come to earth as True God and True man and was crucified for the salvation and remission of all mankind's sins at calvary and conquered death forever by resurrecting from the dead on the third day. Take this eternal saving message to the bank, but until then fight the good fight as St. Paul says, each and every day of your lives and correct as many circumstances and situations that is humanly possible to accomplish,

God has given us control over our lives. We are free to choose eternal life or eternal death. God wills that all be saved, but informs us that it will not be so. If you believe this is the control by God of all things, fine, but the word "control" then becomes meaningless. The supreme court justices controlled the vote in 1973 to legalize abortion ... this was not something God would do; it is something man with freedom of choice would do, and did. God did not will that Adam and Eve disobeyed; but they did. God gave them the control over their domain. What do you mean by "good and bad free will"? Free will is good because God created our nature with it, and whatever God created is good, in fact the Bible tells us it is "very good" ... I checked this in the Hebrew, and lo and behold, that is what it says. "Humanly possible" for the Christian in a state of grace is unlimited, because of the bond with God, who is all powerful; but even so, the human is free to either control matters to his or her natural capacity (requiring full cooperation with God) or to screw up. If you are called only to pray, then fine, if that is your capacity; however, such a one does not need to try and control others who have different callings, such as putting their bodies in the way of sinners, who may hopefully trip over them and find salvation.

It is the 95% of lawyers that give the 5% a bad name. If only the 5% would take the ACLU on by starting action on behalf of the American People litigation to stop the funding of taxpayer money to the ACLU at every action instigated by the aclu sooner or later they would crumble. Take the offensive, but american lawyers won't. God have mercy on this country.
