“Police officers just told us to enjoy ourselves”
Planned Parenthood 'escorts' try to silence teen playing pro-life rap song outside San Francisco abortion clinic
News from the Trenches
Planned Parenthood “escorts” twice summoned police during 40 Days for Life vigils outside the 815 Eddy St. clinic in San Francisco after a high school student shared a pro-life rap song from his Ipod with passersby.
Will Campbell, 15, a student a Stuart Hall High School and parishioner at St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco, said the first incident occurred on Saturday, March 7, about 11:30 a.m.
“At the time, I started playing music from my Ipod on my portable speaker,” Will told California Catholic Daily. “The Planned Parenthood escorts immediately started jotting down notes, making phone calls, and moving around anxiously (excited that they finally had something to complain about). When the police arrived they simply asked us if we were playing music to ourselves. We said yes and offered to turn it down repeatedly if we needed to, but the police officers just told us to enjoy ourselves. The two officers thought it was no big deal.”
Will said the song he was playing is called "Happy Birthday" by the rap artist Flipsyde. To see a video of the song that so upset the Planned Parenthood escorts, Click Here.
During the first incident, Will said, he, his mother and his father were joined by five others praying outside the facility. “There were two Planned Parenthood escorts,” he said. “Many people walking down the street, hearing the music, gave thumbs up and thank yous. People going into the clinic obviously were trying to ignore the music, but kept looking over to us praying. Oh and by the way it was sunny!”
On Sunday, March 15, at 12:30 p.m., Planned Parenthood summoned police a second time over the music. “We started playing the music again, and the escorts called the police (again),” said Will. “But this time the officer did nothing but give me a thumbs up.”
Will said he decided to join the vigil because of the example of his mother. “I got involved through my mom (she's a Catholic blogger),” he said.

Will Campbell is a sidewalk hero. Way to go! Now we need teens to boycott American Idol for its involvement in a trivia contest about the show sponsored by Planned Parenthood of the Greater Northwest. The contest was broadcast as a commercial aired during the Wednesday March 25 show. Any other heros to do battle with Idols?

Good for you kid.

It's obvious that planned parenthood wouldn't like any song called "Happy Birthday." I'm surprised they haven't made their own video called "happy death day, or "purifying the planet" (e.g. eugenics).

Thumbs up to you Will from a fellow 40 Day for Life person in San Mateo!!!!!!!
Your parents are doing a GREAT job in raising you and you are a courageous young man who God and all his babies from Heaven must be smiling down upon.......
Keep it up.........
If noise was ever against the law......
let me tell you........there is plenty of REAL NOISE on the streets that should be silenced.
This was totally bogus and how sad that abortion mills will stoop to ANYTHING to continue doing their evil in killing of God's babies!!!!
Prayers coming your way.

God bless this young man, and the young man who wrote the song on the Ipod, and God bless the police officers for seeing through the calls and doing what was right.

Good Job, Will, and congratulations to you and your great parents! To see such a positive pro-life accomplishment in an over-the-top liberal city like San Francisco is fantastic! You may have accidentally stumbled upon a way that pro-baby folks can use a new tool at the abortuaries to save the little ones - by music! An old saying goes "music hath charm to soothe the savage beast" and you may have indeed found a new way to conquer the savage beasts - both mortal and spiritual - who inhabit and lurk around the abortuaries. God Bless you and your folks in all that you do.

This is a cool story and Will sounds like a cool kid. I am not a big fan of rap music (too old I suppose) but I listened to the song and it was good and had a good message. It is a song about loss and love. May God bless the children.

That's a powerful song, I sent it to all my prochoice friends a few years ago. We graduated from HS together in 93. All three of them now have their own babies and I pray their hearts will continue to transform. I believe even the mere idea of abortion is destructive to humanity, just as slavery damaged every facet of American history and society, slave, master and abolitionist, even today, Abortion has a similar lasting effect. RoeVWade was passed the year my husband was born. His mom is proabortion, I'm thankful she chose life. I shudder to think of all our peers whom we'll never know because they were killed. Keep doing the right thing, your story is uplifting. It's sometimes challenging to be a prolife teenager! Good Job listening to God's call and seeing the good in what your mom does. God Bless!

I had the same thought and even obtained a DVD of the video because it's a heartbreaking song, but I don't have a good way to play it in front of Planned Parenthood. I know I would get the same kind of response. Will, you are a courageous young man, keep going!

Will, you are a role model for other kids. Thank you for your witness. If we can pray, then why not have music, because as it is said (in the Bible, I believe) that singing is like praying twice. You are a fine young man and I am proud of you, your parents, and the police officers who were so supportive in your efforts. God bless you.

Way to go Will, God will surely bless you! What an awsome story! I have loved this song for so long, it gives me chills when I listen to it. I keep the video up on my Facebook in hopes that people will hear it. I like your idea of actually playing it at the clinic! Don't stop what you are doing! God Bless you! Sonia

Will: Keep up the fantastic work of speaking up for the innocent victims of abortion and their mothers. First time I heard the happy birthday song. It moved me to tears. Praying God will continue to raise up others to joint you on the street and all over the USA. I'm going to send this email to my granddaughters in Georgia. You might have started a real movement among your peers. God bless and keep you in His Care and for His Kingdom Work. PTL!!!

Wow, and then some. Do not ordinarily like rap, but this one really touched my heart, and I love it. Will, one corageous young man, please, get your friends together, if at all possible, and stand out there with your mom, and play that song agian and again. The more that the young people see you, who may be going into that place, the better it will be for them, in the long run. They know, like you do, what the right thing is to do, and the song only helps them to see it more clearly. The lines are being drawn, more heavily in the sand now, so, stand up on the right side of that line, and please, continue to pray, and play that song.

We need to think about the implications of this event. We are talking about one of the most pro-death places on Earth! We have police that are actually supportive. That in itself is a miracle! I hope that there is praise for both Will and the police. Both are heroes in a place of grave sin and death.

Well done Will! You're a shining example to all young people today! Well done to your wonderful parents too! And finally, well done to the fine police officers for their courage to act with common sense in a day & age when it's so rare to see! God bless you all! :)
