Legislation of “special significance”

Pro-homosexual bills and an anti-obscenity bill move into the state Senate

Several bills of interest to advocates of the family will be heard by state Senate committees this month.

A bill that, critics say, would pressure foundations with assets over $250 million to contribute to pro-homosexual causes passed the Assembly on Jan. 29 on a 45-29 vote. AB 624, set for a June 23 hearing before the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development Committee, would require foundations to disclose how many grants and the “percentage of grant dollars” they have awarded to “organizations serving ethnic minority communities and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, disabled communities, and other underrepresented communities.”

A bill that would mark every May 22 as Harvey Milk Day passed the state Assembly, 45-28, on May 19 and is scheduled to go before the Senate Governmental Organization Committee on June 10. Milk was the first openly homosexual man to be elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Known as the “Mayor of Castro Street” for his work in organizing homosexuals through the Castro Valley Association, Milk in 1975 outed Oliver “Bill” Sipple, against his will. Sipple, an ex-Marine, had stopped an assassination attempt against President Gerald Ford outside San Francisco’s St. Francis Hotel. Elected a supervisor in 1977, Milk was assassinated, along with San Francisco Mayor George Moscone, on Nov. 27, 1978.

The bill would require the governor to proclaim Harvey Milk Day “as having special significance in public schools and educational institutions and encourage those entities to conduct suitable commemorative exercises on that date.”

Another bill passed by the Assembly (48-30) on May 27 – AB 2654 – is scheduled for a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on June 24. This bill would add sexual orientation to a long list of state anti-discrimination laws.

A June 17 Senate Public Safety Committee hearing is set for AB 2104, which would address the posting of pornographic pictures of minors on the internet. The bill, which unanimously passed the Assembly on May 22, would make it illegal for anyone 21 years or older to prepare, post, or publish “a photograph or image of a minor under 18 years of age,” without the minor’s consent, on a web site the poster knows contains “obscene matter.” Violations would carry up to one-year’s imprisonment in county jail or a fine of up to $5,000.

The intent of this legislation, says the bill, is “to protect minors from being traumatized and exploited through the unauthorized use of their images on pornographic Internet Web sites.”

Besides the usual homosexual tyranny, so it would be illegal to post pornography "without the minor's consent?" Minors need protection from manipulative evil-doer adults. A real law would be no pornography whatsoever. This sounds like a copyright type approach since it deals with "unauthorized images."

Schoolchildren morally mugged by bullies for "Milk" money.

PLEASE REPORT ON SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE HOMOSEXUAL, THERE IS OTHER NEWS IN THE CHURCH AND THE WORLD!! tHIS SITE IS HUNG UP ON ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE HOMOSEXUAL! "HE/SHE THAT PROTEST TO MUCH HAS SOMETHING TO HIDE"!!!!!!!!!!

1. Tommy: Your assumption is faulty. 2. Thomas: I think you are protesting too much. The sodomite movement in the Church is destroying so many souls that it must be exposed so that the laity and whatever bishops and priests are left who truly follow Christ can take action. The sodomites must be thrown out of the temple.

Nice to see California Catholic Daily keep up the pressure on this insidious evil pervading our society. Thomas, we'll shut up when the homosexual lobby does. After all, when Judeo-Christian ideals decrease, violence and depravity increase. Only a milquetoast, or is that Milk-toast, will cower and do nothing about that except to eat a Twinkie or two to settle the nerves amid all the pseudo-sophistication that is nothing more than worshipping the golden calf that is ourselves.

"Harvey Milk Day" officially commemerates a special day in San Francisco history when society took a giant step deeper into the cesspool of death culture worship. According to the article, Milk is famous for organizing homos to vote for him, and for outing other homos. Those accomplishments are worthy of a holiday? HA!!!

Thank you, Laurette & Pax Christi, I now know what Christ like love is; it is mean spirited and filled with hate!! 'See how they love one another"?!!!

Thomas ~ The love of Christ via the Holy Sprit as expressed in the Catholic Church is NOT found on the internet.

Posted Wednesday, June 11, 2008 7:35 PM By Mary Ann, SingingMum
May 22nd, Feast of Corpus Christi? Hmmm..... seems to me that Mr. Milk isn't all that heroic or even interesting, other than a 'first'. Why should we be celebrating him with a special day?

Posted Wednesday, June 11, 2008 11:49 PM By Pax Christi
Grisha, then could the love of Christ via the Holy Spirit as expressed in the Catholic Church be found on EWTN (the TV network, not its Web site)? I love EWTN. Do you? Or maybe it could be found at the upcoming National Catholic Family Conference on Aug. 2-3 in Anaheim (see www.catholicrc.org)? There will be plenty of religious items for sale on display, but I think it's safe to say you won't see a portrait of ol' St. Harvey like this: http://tinyurl.com/56wsuf among the offerings. Isn't it flattering that Milk's backers would crib from Catholic imagery? William Donohue thought so: http://tinyurl.com/6aojk5

Mary Ann, Milk never did anthing of value, but he was murdered by a straight, white, male. That is perfect storm for the homosexual mafia. A holiday commemerating Milk can't be opposed without charges of "homophobia". This is what lunacy is all about.

First of all, Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk was assassinated for their politically motivated ousting of Dan White from his Supervisor seat. Dan White, a Catholic firefighter, took a pay cut to be a Supervisor and the loss of his seat financially destroyed him. I don't condone murder but Harvey Milk was not killed for being a homosexual, he was killed for viciously destroying a political rival. Harvey Milk was also an ardent supporter of Jim Jones and his People's Temple even after ex-members filed complaints about the cult. His letter to Jimmy Carter may have delayed the investigation into the People's Temple and contributed to the resulting tragedy. "Harvey Milk Day" was conceived for the sole purpose of vilifying conservative Catholics and perpetuating the Milk martyr myth.

Crunching the numbers: 2.8% of 3 billion males = 90 million more or less. This compares significantly to the WWII figure of 50 million killed. But then the world population was more like one and a half billion, which would make the WWII death toll about 2.8% of the total number of people in the world at that time, or one out of each public school classroom of 36 students. Now, lets check the comparison to abortion. Three gay murders versus 1.2 million babies in this nation of 300 million people = that's a ratio of 1 gay male per each 400 thousand babies butchered in the womb without so much as ever having tasted a Twinkie. So it is obvious that the gay agenda movers and shakers have a just cause, a reason to spend so much time and trouble raising the public consciousness to the wholesale slaughter of gay men. One last thought, the traffic fatalities and mayhem: 30 thousand deaths by car each year out of 300 million souls = one death per 10 thousand souls per year ... yep, once again the gay tongues are right on the mark as far as alerting us all the the enormous numbers of their compatriots killed violently. Gheeessshhhhh, I almost forgot the tens of millions sacrificed to the people over in the late Papa Mao's China, the late Uncle Joe's USSR, Biafra, Bangladesh, one quarter million in Tsunami in Indonesia, 60 thousand last month in China's earthquake ... the world needs to stop all other activities to keep gays from being murdered at the unthinkable rate of two per year in this country alone. What will happen to the birthrate if it gets any worse?

So, maybe it should be renamed to "Harvey Coolaid Day".

Thomas, Are you joking? Did you come to this website looking for some sort of pro-homosexual agenda? Love does not equal acceptance. Which is the same as "civil union" does not equal marriage. Perhaps you can find a more accepting forum somewhere else for airing homosexual drivel.

Posted Thursday, June 12, 2008 1:15 PM By Peter
Gotta represent the truth, David ND, whether you want to hear it or not. And I agree with you, "civil union" does not equal marriage; hence the push for same-sex marriage. I suspect Thomas (#2) might agree.

"Thomas ~ The love of Christ via the Holy Sprit as expressed in the Catholic Church is NOT found on the internet. " Grisha, I am confounded (astounded?) by this assertion. Are you saying that those who disagree with you (or Thomas) are not inspired by the Holy Spirit? That they do not disagree charitably? That those who oppose Thomas do not have love in their hearts for him, or you, for that matter? Well the web is an impersonal venue but I for one have no window into anyone else's soul, and I greatly fear the sin of rash judgment, to which I am so naturally prone. It is not always easy to reveal the content of one's heart on such a venue, especially when writes in disagreement. How does one disagree with the LBGT agenda without being accused of hate, or at least the absence of love?

My Lord and Savior taught Love, being that it leads to Truth and understanding. Christ sat with sinners and ate with them. Can you image the conversation He had with them. I would assume He Love them all, At the same time I would think that some felt He hated them because their life was filled with all the things that offend God. He most likely told them that they have the chance to remove the chains that bond them to their sin. Some, may of walked away, thinking He was preaching hate against them, but these people had no idea what Love was.

How about a Jesse Dirkising Day? Or a Day for all the young boys Jeffrey Dahmer killed?

Oh! by the way, there are some Catholic saints named St. Charles Lwanga and Companions (approximately twenty-two) of Uganda in Africa. They were martyred in the persecution of Christians by a king named Mwanga who practiced pedophilia with his royal pages. When the Christians objected to his crimes he ordered all Christians killed. Mwanga also murdered approximately twenty-three Protestant martyrs.

Two comments: Dan Yoshida writes: "Mayor Moscone and Harvey Milk was assassinated for their politically motivated ousting of Dan White from his Supervisor seat. Dan White, a Catholic firefighter, took a pay cut to be a Supervisor and the loss of his seat financially destroyed him." The position of County Supervisor in SF is considered a "part time" one. The pay , especially then is almost honorific compared to the time one must spend. In fact Dan White resigned his seat because he felt that KEEPING the seat was financially destroying him. Within days afterwards, a group of his supporters came up with a plan to help out the family economically. With that, he went back to the mayor and asked for re-appointment to the still vacant seat. Moscone told him he had decided to appoint a someone else and at that point Dan shot and killed him. Apparently he knew that Harvey Milk had advised the Mayor on the replacement appointment and killed him as well. PRETEND THERE IS A NEW PARAGRAPH HERE. As for the question of where the love of Christ via the Holy Sprit can be found, one of the things which bothers me about the discussions here is that very few posts reference the writers parish life and those that do often only air complaints. Anyone looking to learn about ~ or come back to ~ the Church will do far better walking in to their local parish than delving into the blogosphere.

So, Grisha, you want all posters to write from the same viewpoint, and exactly the same thing? If not, then can you assign the topics, styles of writing, and content?

Posted Saturday, June 14, 2008 6:08 PM By Grisha
John L: Hey why not? On Wednesday Laurette wrote that I could control the whole site by changing the topic. Remember, we know I'm a control freak from my stay in the hospital in late '06. Now, all hands muster to the fantail for uniform inspection!

Grisha, how about you run for world ruler; I'm getting tired of it. No one will vote for me ... no one I trust, that is. Maybe you'd do better at it. And what's with all those pretend paragraph breaks? That's how I structured my college essays ... babble with paragraph breaks tossed in here and there. I complained about a "D" to the grad student teaching the course (in writing, what else?), who then bumped it up to the Professor. I got it back with so much red ink, that it looked like he spray painted it with red paint. He told me the grad student had been merciful.

John L: Actually, some folks in the neighborhood suggested a few years ago I run for county supervisor in our district. Here in SF the Board of Supes is dominated by a "Progressive" (apologies to Bob LaFollette) caucus who don't[represent their constituencies. One of the problems we realized early on is that my opponents would make a big deal out of the fact that I'm anti abortion. Never mind that the County Supes don't have anything to do with abortion, it's a litmus test for everything from mayor to dog-catcher here. I'm also strongly pro-SFPD and that would be used against me. As for the pretend paragraph breaks I'd really like to know if there is a technical reason we can't do them. Christopher does sometimes. The only potential problem I see is if someone submitted a long Haiku and you had to scroll down forever to get to the next post.

Grisha, go for it. Also, I will join your effort to crack the paragraph code.
