Save the planet, kill a baby!

Sierra Club joins Planned Parenthood to offer conferences on “Sex and the Environment”

During the first week of November, members of the Sierra Club traversed one end of California to the other for a series of conferences called “Sex and the Environment.” Accompanying them at most of their stops were representatives of Planned Parenthood.

Such conferences were held between Nov. 6 and Nov. 9 in Oakland, Santa Cruz, Fresno, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, mostly on university campuses. The “tour,” says the Sierra Club’s web site, was “co-sponsored by International Health Programs of the Public Health Institute, Campus Progress, Global Exchange, as well as Planned Parenthood affiliates and a number of University of California Women's Centers and student groups.”
The 115-year-old Sierra Club, based in San Francisco and founded by California environmentalist John Muir in 1892 to “explore, enjoy and protect the planet,” now declares on its web site: “Sierra Club is a pro-choice organization.”

The November tour was part of the Sierra Club’s Global Population and Environment Program, which states as its mission: “to protect the global environment and preserve natural resources for future generations by advancing global reproductive health and sustainable development initiatives.”

The term “reproductive health” has long been understood as a code word for “abortion,” especially in Third World countries where the outright use of the word “abortion” would be politically unwise.

In a question-and-answer section on the Sierra Club’s web site discussing the Population and Environment Program, the group says it has endorsed a 1970 resolution drafted by the group Zero Population Growth. Among the provisions of the resolution: “families should not have more than two natural children,” “state and federal laws should be changed to encourage small families and to discourage large families,” “policies, and attitudes that foster population growth or big families, or that restrict abortion and contraception, or that attempt to constrict the roles of men and women, should be abandoned.”

The Nov. 20 alternative weekly Sacramento News&Review reported on one of the Sierra Club/Planned Parenthood “Sex and the Environment” conferences. The conference covered by the weekly was held at the University of California, Davis, and featured a speaker from each organization. Speaking for the Sierra Club was Cassie Gardner. “Gardner’s job was created to address the connection Sierra Club sees between sex and the environment: If you educate women about their reproductive rights, many will choose to have smaller families, which will slow population growth and subsequently slow resource depletion,” the News&Review reported.

But apparently not all students at the conference bought the Sierra Club line, according to the newspaper. “At the close of Gardner’s lecture, an ethical debate erupted,” said the News&Review. “The gender-studies students asked: Is it fair to advocate a curb on population growth in developing countries when the United States uses 25 percent of the world’s resources for 5 percent of the world’s population?”

This is truly what the wacko environmental movement has become about. Less people equals less "impact" on the environment thus they have fully embraced the culture of death. Notice that most of these limousine liberals don't mean themselves when it comes to population control or restraints, they mean it for you and I. They certainly don't want any interruptions to their family or lifestyle.

As Father Paul Marx used to say: There is a lot of copulation without much population. That would sum up my experience with the Sierra Club crowd.

Maybe they would like to be like China have permit for a child and if its female they could kill it.

The Sierra Club, another organization under Satan's control. Let us pray for all the evil organizations, that they return to God's values. For this I pray to the Lord.

Fr.Paul Marx has been like a John the Baptist..a voice crying in the wilderness...and wilderness it is...without the people that should have been... Every new life is new ideas and new opportunities for the rest of us...to be our "brother's and sister's keeper

Fr. Paul Marx is a great holy man.

Being fifteen, I calculated that the EXPONENTIAL growing world population would kill most of our society as we know it (first in the poor countries, but soon enough at our own doorstep). I write 1976. Some religious morons still didn't get the message and want to procreate to shovel their offspring in a bleak grave. Get rid of your goggles and read f.i. http://globalpublicmedia.com/transcripts/645. But I guess that's not in the 'book'. You just can't walk on water. But hey who am I ?

jan, it is mathematical theory which increases population exponentially, not reality. If you sincerely desire to know about population growth, then check out Population Research Institute at www.pop.org. Its academic and research level is world class; it is fact based and the site is loaded with data for you to consider.

The real inconvenient truth is that abortions kill unborn baby children that all have a right to life right from conception. Any so called curbs on population will result in a population crisis with not enough people to sustain a country and even a severe crisis about who is going to take care of the elderly in the very near future, especially all those baby boomers that will reach old age in vast numbers. Europe is currently facing a very serious population crisis because of the type of short sighted mentality being encouraged and promoted in this story.

wow...there is no hope for Catholics...you people need to wake up and get real. open your eyes...no one is rewarding you for supporting unborn organisms who will statistically become a detriment to society because of eventual neglect. do yourselves a favor and just live your lives. stop yapping your traps and getting into everyone else's. This world would be so much more peaceful without Catholics...

FREETHINKER: WOW! I'm usually not at a loss for words, but all I can say is that I have never in my 40+ years have I ever come across anybody so hostile and vile. You must really be an unhappy soul. It's so inhuman what you said, that I, for a second thought that you could just making up these comments to upset people. I guess I don't want to believe someone could seriously be that evil. It's hard for me to even comprehend what you say about the innocent, unborn babies, but then again, it's hard to understand someone who talks with a forked tongue!

FREETHINKER took away his own legitimacy with the "unborn organisms" comment. "I'm so progressive I no longer identify with my own species." Get bent.

Freethinker: American Catholics have contributed immensely to this country. We've established some of our greatest universities, built hospitals in undeserved communities set up social service agencies which a models for the nation. Mother Theresa is universally recognized as the epitome of altruism. The Popes have continually acted as a neutral, moral force warning against wars. All these good works are driven by faith. Think it over.

Freethinker: Here is the definition of organism according to Webster's dictionary: A living person, animal, or plant, thought of as made up of a number of separate but related parts. You are not a very smart person. If you are saying unborn babies are organisms, then you are admitting that unborn babies are a living person with all their parts. Also, You need to learn about punctuation. Look up the word punctuation in the dictionary before you comment though. You might say something stupid. Also, you said "stop yapping your traps and getting into someone else's". Someone else's what? Trap? How do you do that? Maybe these Catholics can teach you something.
