“Today, Planned Parenthood's parking lot was at 30% capacity most of the day”

40 Days for Life – Sacramento, update days 12-14

News from the Trenches

We seem to be having an impact on Planned Parenthood, 29th and B Street, downtown Sacramento, where we are holding our constant prayer vigil these 40 Days.

When we arrived Monday morning, they’d put a sign on the door saying "Closed for Staff Meeting" until after 10 a.m. With the doors locked, no loud PP radios to talk over, and no escorts to contend with, it was a great opportunity to talk with PP clients who showed up; many turned to us for help and information.

Tuesdays and Fridays are usually abortion mornings here. But thanks be to God, the next day --Tuesday -- the abortionist never showed up. Prayers are being answered!

We were interviewed about 40 Days for Life by the National Catholic Register, and by an international Christian broadcast show on www.crusaderadio.com. They even have listeners in Jerusalem! We gave out a record number of "Before You Choose" pamphlets, and had many heartfelt conversations with PP clients. Today, Planned Parenthood's parking lot was at 30% capacity most of the day.

I spoke with a grandmother who brought her teenage grandchild, Caitlin (not her real name) to obtain birth control pills. It greatly struck me, upon seeing her granddaughter, that Caitlin does not know how precious she is in God's eyes. Please pray for them both.

I also spoke with a Hispanic couple that had exited the facility. The woman seemed overwhelmed, yet she had an openness about her. They had the "Before You Choose" brochure still with them. Please pray for this couple.

I dropped in at the nearby friendly gas station at 29th and E streets, where we store our vigil supplies. As I walked in, Kevin, the daytime cashier, began, "Hey, you know I haven't been to church since I was about this high," as he stretched out his arm to show me a height about waist-high. "But my girlfriend asked me to go to church with her this past weekend and you know what, I kinda liked it. All I felt was love, with so many good people all together in one place."

Somehow, I wanted to give him something special to commemorate this event, but all I had with me was a "Precious Feet pin." I gave him one and explained it was the exact size of a baby's feet in the womb at 10 weeks. He was very touched and thankful. Then I noticed three to four other customers in line, who saw and overheard our entire conversation. You just never know who may have needed to hear that!

We need more vigilers at 29th and B Street Planned Parenthood, particularly at night. Ideally we need three or four people for each shift to keep the place covered 24/7. Contact Chris Jonas at piperpilot1@juno.com, telephone (530) 878-0598, if you can help fill these hours.

NOTE: Please do not bring additional abortion signs to the vigil site. We want to retain a peaceful, prayerful, reverent presence, not a picket nor protest.

Believe it or not, when one goes out to the "gates of hell" where the killing of innocents continues, great works of God occur. Recently, I watched a 'first-timer', her face streaming with tears as she realized the impact she made on several young ladies who turned away from the PP clinic on an abortion day after she handed them a pamphlet. I said to her, "You will not know this side of heaven how many generations you have just helped to save!" We hugged and I was touched at the emotional moment. Please, if you have never been out to the sidewalks in front of a surgical abortion clinic, or if you want to return, now is the time to do so. Come and pray with us. Let the Holy Spirit of God lead you in all truth.

On this day Saturday October 13, 2007, is the 90th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima appearing to those three beautiful and holy shepherd children Luica, Francisco and Jacinta in Fatima Portugal. Today is also the 90th Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun in Fatima witnessed by over 70,000 in that simple ordinary field to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt to all who were there and all mankind the authenticity of Our Lady of Fatima and of her powerful eternal life saving message for all humanity Our Lady of Fatima asked those three blessed children to pray the Rosary for the conversion of sinners and reparation of the sins of all mankind. Continue to pray especially the Rosary for an end to all abortions and the culture of death. Keep your constant prayer vigil going and answer the call from Our Lady of Fatima on this the 90th Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun to bring more vigilers to pray in peace for an end to all abortions of unborn baby children around the entire world.

I could have been a father three times now, but thankfully, my wife decided that abortion was the proper action for the time, given our economic circumstances. We are currently saving our money for a down-payment on a house, something we could not do if we were to be saddled with children. I've never understood why the tyrannical imposition of childbirth is endorsed by the Christian lobbies. I guess poverty does drive more members to mass, and forced childbirth does drive more people to poverty.

God bless you for being there. I had to quit going to the mills; I don't have the temperment for it. The outrageous behavior of the deathscorts just sends me over the top.

Jersh, wait til you're a father the fourth time ... both you and your wife may be in for a surprise ... childcarrying is not without some problems sometimes, and abortions will aggravate those problems, possibly making it impossible to carry and deliver. Additionally, abortion ... especially serial abortion ... does not have a beneficial effect on a woman's longevity due to increased risk of cancer.

Jersh, why not use Natural Family Planning, and practice the virtue of abstinence as necessary? True live is sacrificial. Why do you impose your tyranny of who gets to live or not on your now-dead children? So you kill for more money? That's what a mercenary does too. Why don't you trust that God will provide? So you don't want to be "saddled" with children? Good thing that God our Father doesn't consider Himself as being "saddled" with His child Jersh. God's Mercy in infinite. You still have time to repent.

Keep up the good work Sacramento, give the abortion-seekers what they deserve, the right information! That isn't too much to ask for, something that Planned Parenthood is too embarrassed to provide. Planned Parenthood has a very shady history all beginning with Margaret Sanger, look it up!
